Education Opportunities
We believe in what we do and want to share it with others. We offer a variety of ways to learn about local foods and farming:
- School programs: We have found small-scale agriculture and a farm setting to be a wonderful platform to meaningfully engage youth with their food, both its source and how its grown. We offer field trip tours for schools on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from May until November. These tours show the group each operation, allows for hands-on learning, and offer an open barn space for lunch (meals not included). We enjoy hosting school groups, are creative and flexible, and encourage any coordinator to contact us and arrange a tour specific to your classes current curriculum topic.
- Group Tours: Is your office, group, or club interested in learning more about local agriculture? Want to be able to see operations up close and ask specific questions? Reserve a group tour today for a memorable experience and richer appreciation for locally grown food.
- Public Tours: Saturday mornings are a great time to catch one of our public tours from our farm stand. One is led each hour (10am, 11am, 12pm) from the farm stand and passes by each farm operation. This gives a general overview of each operation and exposes you what’s currently going on here.
- Volunteer Days: Come out and get your hands dirty. Saturday afternoons are open for people who want to engage with their food and learn more about how its grown. Sign up here.
- Guest Speakers and Demonstrations: Sometimes we host guest speakers and demonstrators at our “Old Seneca Farmer’s Market” on Saturdays. These are folks who represent some of the practices we’re incorporating, advocate for local agriculture preservation, or represent creative food processing or distribution organizations in the area. Be sure to check out our calendar for upcoming speakers and demonstrations.
