Rocklands Farm

Montgomery County, Poolesville, MD

Rocklands Farm located in Poolesville, Maryland, less than 25 miles from Washington DC. We manage 90 acres; 34 acres of our own & 56 acres leased. We graze 68 acres of pasture & savannah forest, cultivate nine acres of vineyard & one acre of orchard & brambles, as well as one acre of flowers. The remaining 11 acres hold the estate house & out buildings, bank barn (event space, market & tasting room), winery production facility, and customer areas. We border the Seneca State Park to the East, Dry Seneca Creek to the South, Montevideo Road to the West, and our leased land to the North.

Our Pasture

we focus on growing grass & building healthy soil. everything else will follow.

We are called to be stewards of Creation and we believe this responsibility can best be accomplished through holistic management & regernative agriculture practices.

We believe ruminent (grass-only) livestock are central to regenerative agriculture. We utilize bio-mimicry in our high-density, multi-species, adaptive rotational grazing system. We integrate the whole ecosystem functions, foster savannah style pastures, and focus on growing grass while building healthy, high-functioning, and every increasing soil.

We raise cattle & sheep for 100% Grass-Fed beef & lamb, as well as chickens, broilers, and hogs for Pasture-Raised meats & eggs. Meats & eggs sourced from these happy healthy livestock produce delicious, nutrient-dense, and culinarially enaging foods, which pair best with our wines.

Our Vineyard

We believe that great wine begins with Great Grapes.

We produce the best estate-grapes possible from our soil, our weather, and what this region allows. We overcome the challenges of our region & climate to cultivate a harvest & produces delicious wines you will love, and a terroir you will remember.

We work closely with our Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsilvania vineyard sources, sharing that passion for high fruit quality and site-representing characteristics.  Our wines are made in small batches, by hand, and with minimal intervention in order to highlight those characteristics.

We utilize management techniques to promote soil, vine, and ecosystem health through low-impact & biological-conscious practices.
