A Cozy Fall Wedding Near Washington, DC
Caroline & Alan’s Autumn Wedding at Rocklands Farm Winery
Fall weddings offer the most beautiful backdrop. The changing leaves, crisp air, warm candlelight, and rich autumn colors create a naturally beautiful setting for a wedding, and late October might be one of our favorite times of year to celebrate.
We’re thinking back to one of our favorite late-fall weddings at Rocklands Farm Winery, when Caroline and Alan celebrated on October 30.
As the weather began to turn cold, Caroline and Alan leaned into the season and created a cozy, atmospheric celebration that felt like the perfect autumn feast.
A Cozy Fall Wedding in the Bank Barn
Knowing they wanted their October wedding to feel warm and inviting, Caroline and Alan decided in advance to hold their ceremony inside the bank barn.
It was the perfect choice for a late-fall wedding. Rather than worrying about chilly temperatures, they embraced the season and created a ceremony setting filled with texture, flowers, grasses, and candles.
Above them hung a beautiful installation of fall branches, leaves, and flowers, transforming the barn into a romantic autumn setting.
Their vision was something wonderfully dramatic and cozy: an autumnal feast inspired by the Great Hall at Hogwarts. Think layers of natural textures, seasonal flowers, grasses, candlelight, and the warmth of an old barn.
The result was magical without feeling overly formal. A wedding that felt completely connected to the season and the farm.
An Autumn Wedding Surrounded by the Farm
One of the best things about having a fall wedding at a farm winery near Washington, DC is getting to experience the changing landscape.
For their wedding portraits, Caroline and Alan took advantage of the gardens, which had been touched by the first hints of frost. The cooler weather brought out the deep colors and textures of the season, including striking red amaranths in the garden.
The slightly frosted landscape made a beautiful backdrop for their photos and gave the images a distinctly late-autumn feeling.
